Dear Camp Pendleton: we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place and many of the animals in the area are lucky their homes are protected as part of ongoing nature preserve efforts. Let’s keep our trash and butts with bedroom’s reach, instead of on the beach. We’re better than this, and the animals on base deserve better treatment.

Luckily no wed to protect them from bears 🐻 in this land not sure if that’s a good thing or not 😉😂😂😂 bees 🐝 are so essential for the survival of humans. No bees 🐝 will mean crop failures and food shortage world wide. We need bees and need to make sure that they survive so that we can too. Mankind as worked side by side with bees 🐝 symbiotically for 1000’s of years. From indigenous tribes to bee 🐝 babas of India 🇮🇳 all need to learn to respect and protect the simple and lovely insect the bee 🐝 more awareness needs to be raised about how modern farming using chemicals are wiping out bees in the millions which is like shooting yourself in the foot as to manually pollinate fruit trees and other food types would cost the agricultural industry millions and millions. One cause might be from the Levator Scapulae muscle. It attaches from the transverse processes (the side nubs on your vertebrae) of C1-C4 and then attach to the upper part of your scapula.⠀

What does this muscle do?⠀

This muscle does a lot.⠀
1) As the name suggests, it helps to elevate your shoulder.⠀
2) It rotates your neck and bends it to the same side that is active.⠀
3) When the levators of both shoulders are activated, they help to bend your neck backwards and to stabilize it when you look downwards.⠀

One of the main signs of this muscle being a culprit in your neck or shoulder pain - is an elevated scapula, as the muscle is being contracted.⠀

How does this happen?⠀

“Tucking” your phone between your head on shoulder in a “hands free” way.⠀
Lifting and carrying heavy objects.⠀
Carrying a bag or purse on one side primarily without switching sides.⠀

Ritual is an important part of learning and healing.

For the first-time student of Kung-Fu they might struggle to put on their uniform, or get their open hand and fist mixed up when they bow. For the first-student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu they might struggle with tying their belt or forget to bow before stepping onto the mat.

A first-time Chinese medicine patient enters an entirely strange world. The smell of liniments and moxa hits their nose. They are asked about their energy, sleep and digestion. They stick out their tongues and have six fingers placed on their pulse.

After laying down on a massage table or reclining in a chair, the patient is scraped, cupped, warmed, needled and then soaked in liniment. A strange ritual indeed.

After returning to Kung-Fu for a month, the initiate starts to understand the patterns of the class format. The BJJ initiate anticipates bowing to Carlos Gracie and clapping on the count of three as a team.

Ritual can be a strange thing - but it ultimately creates a safe place. Like chimes above a martial arts studio door, ritual brings the participant’s or patient’s attention to the present moment, allows them to be vulnerable, and, finally, receive what they came for.

The other night, I called Luke to the back door. Then opened the door and got down at his level. I spoke quietly to him about the air he is quite often seen sniffing. “Smell that?” I asked him. “That’s the best cool night air. That air is why I wanted to bring you here. I know you’ve smelled it on your walks but I wanted you to know, this is why I brought you here. I love you puppy.” And now, he walks out on the deck...WITHOUT ME! I used to have to get out my chair and sit in it to show him it was safe. Today he walked out on the deck the second I opened the door (while I was still in the house)! ❤️ Oh my joyful heart!

This is not the most eye-catching photo, I know, but when you’ve been making an effort to really embrace minimalism you work with what you’ve got - which happens to be a mason jar. 😬
Why I’m posting this photo & then apologizing for it is really because I want to talk about how powerful the contents in the glass are.
I had been drinking this on a daily basis for a couple weeks, went on vacation without it for several days, & man can I tell a difference. So thankful to be able to make it today.
What’s in the glass:
Turmeric: a powerful anti-inflammatory, that helps with everything from rashes & congestion to dandruff and hormonal imbalances. Also very helpful for autoimmune conditions where the body gets stuck in a constant state of attack.
Ginger: contains a TON of trace minerals & is a strong anti-spasmodic - meaning it helps put the body in a more relaxed state. This is important in healing stress-related issues like: adrenal fatigue, insomnia, acid reflux, sleep apnea, & many digestive problems.
Garlic: anti- bacterial, viral, fungal, & parasitic. Has the wonderful sulphur compound Allicin that fights disease of all kind. Powerful stuff for treating infections of all kinds & many types do cancer.
Oregano: strong anti-bacterial. Helps fight Step, H. pylori, & E. coli which are responsible for SIBO, peptic ulcers, step throat, ear infections, & diverticulitis.
Lemon: high in mineral salts & promotes alkalinity in the body, which is crucial in healing cancer & health issues of any kind.
Coconut water: amazing source of both glucose & mineral salts which support neurotransmitter function. Also increase the healing properties of anything it is consumed with.
There’s a lot of variations of this recipe. I suggest juicing small amount of each ingredient at first until you get a feel for what concentrations of each you like/can handle.
I think coconut water is a powerful addition to the recipe, but if it’s not easily available you can do orange juice or pineapple is super delicious.

Coconut oil gets a great deal of attention nowadays. Its versatile with the various ways you can use it. Below, are 10 approaches how to utilize coconut oil. Full article is @ our blog. Link is in the bio.

1a. Toothpaste-Coconut oil normally brightens teeth & contains antibacterial components that will keep your mouth crisp & solid. If you need to make your own toothpaste, basically mix softened coconut oil, baking soda & your most loved essential oils together. Store it in a jug & it also keeps money in your pocket!
1b.Oil Pulling-Its an antiquated Ayurvedic mouth cleansing strategy that draws toxins from the body & can even dispose of cavities. You should simply take a spoonful of oil & rinse it in your mouth for around 20 minutes. At that point, brush your teeth as ordinary. For beginners, start with a few minutes on end until the point when you work your way up.
2. Deodorant-Add coconut oil, baking soda, & arrowroot powder or cornstarch. Finally, add your most loved essential oils for a new aroma. Note: when you change to a more characteristic antiperspirant, you may see that you have to reapply it all the more frequently. This is because traditional antiperspirants stop up your pores & keep you from perspiring which really isn't extremely sound. You may sweat more with common antiperspirant but more healthier for you.
3. Natural Makeup Remover-Not exclusively does coconut oil add dampness to the skin, yet putting some on a cotton ball will expel cosmetics normally without all the additional synthetic compounds that obstruct your pores & dry out skin. In the wake of expelling the cosmetics, wash your head with warm water & dry with a delicate towel.
4. Skin Moisturizer-Rehash what you did in #3 , aside from you'll need to abandon a portion of the oil on your skin & not wash it with water. You won't require lotion or face cream any longer – simply utilize coconut oil! The supplements will keep your skin looking dynamic & solid, in addition it smells awesome & can help avert wrinkles.
5. Sunscreen-Coconut oil contains a SPF of around 5-7. You shouldn’t utilize it for long periods in the sun but it works fine for a short walk or run.

At the worst part of my most recent depressive episode, I had gained a ton of weight. So much weight, in fact, that I didn't recognize myself anymore. And in that really dark place, a nutrition coach approached me at work one day. She suggested we work together, and told me she could help me become "the best possible version of myself."
It stung. My appearance alone led her to believe that I was not in that moment the best possible version of myself. I know what she meant, but I don't think she was right. Because at any given point in our lives, we are doing the best we can do with the situations we've been given. Indeed, in that moment, I WAS the best possible version of me. Furthermore, I was proud of myself, of how far I had come in healing and forgiving, myself and others. I was working on the weight, but I wasn't prepared to tell my body it had done anything wrong in its effort to protect me from pain.
This morning, I had my annual physical. My cholesterol isn't what it should be, and I'm about 20 pounds heavier than I'd like to be. Yes, frustrating, and I need to do something about it. But as I stepped off the scale in the doctor's office, I smiled and thanked my body. I promised it I would keep doing my best, would even try harder, but told it I was grateful for how far it has taken me. Right now, I am the best possible version of myself because it is the version of myself that I am. It's that simple.
We must give ourselves grace. Being human is hard, and we are beautiful.

My body is in retrograde.

My depressive episodes have been fewer and farther between, but I don’t know if I will ever be promised they are gone for good. Even with all the tools in my toolbox- yoga, meditation, breath work, writing, therapy, medication- the negative thoughts come creeping in and I am trapped once again in depression’s grip. I become overwhelmed not only by my grief and sorrow, but that of the world’s too. My fellow human’s suffering, the pain my Mother Earth feels from our doing- I feel it deep in my bones. All the pain from my past and all the pain to come.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But this is my work- as a healer, an empath, a teacher, a human being. The shadows teach me to appreciate the light with full force. My darkness teaches me lessons that help me connect to the world around me.

I’ve stopped trying to get rid of the shadows. I am starting to have faith that the light will shine through in divine timing. I am willing to do the shadow work in order to learn and grow and share. So I’ve managed to move from my bed to my mat. I am now able to ask myself, “What am I unwilling to feel?” and “Where does it hurt?” I am getting still and quiet and back in my body.

For the first-student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu they might struggle with tying their belt or forget to bow before stepping onto the mat. ✨ A first-time Chinese medicine patient enters an entirely strange world. The smell of liniments and moxa hits their nose. They are asked about their energy, sleep and digestion. They stick out their tongues and have six fingers placed on their pulse. ✨ After laying down on a massage table or reclining in a chair, the patient is scraped, cupped, warmed, needled and then soaked in liniment. A strange ritual indeed. ✨ After returning to Kung-Fu for a month, the initiate starts to understand the patterns of the class format. At the worst part of my most recent depressive episode, I had gained a ton of weight. So much weight, in fact, that I didn't recognize myself anymore. And in that really dark place, a nutrition coach approached me at work one day. She suggested we work together, and told me she could help me become "the best possible version of myself." It stung. My appearance alone led her to believe that I was not in that moment the best possible version of myself. I know what she meant, but I don't think she was right. Because at any given point in our lives, we are doing the best we can do with the situations we've been given. Indeed, in that moment, I WAS the best possible version of me. Furthermore, I was proud of myself, of how far I had come in healing and forgiving, myself and others. I was working on the weight, but I wasn't prepared to tell my body it had done anything wrong in its effort to protect me from pain. This morning, I had my annual physical. My cholesterol isn't what it should be, and I'm about 20 pounds heavier than I'd like to be. Yes, frustrating, and I need to do something about it. But as I stepped off the scale in the doctor's office, I smiled and thanked my body. I promised it I would keep doing my best, would even try harder, but told it I was grateful for how far it has taken me. Right now, I am the best possible version of myself because it is the version of myself that I am. It's that simple. We must give ourselves grace. My body is in retrograde. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My depressive episodes have been fewer and farther between, but I don’t know if I will ever be promised they are gone for good. Even with all the tools in my toolbox- yoga, meditation, breath work, writing, therapy, medication- the negative thoughts come creeping in and I am trapped once again in depression’s grip. I become overwhelmed not only by my grief and sorrow, but that of the world’s too. My fellow human’s suffering, the pain my Mother Earth feels from our doing- I feel it deep in my bones. All the pain from my past and all the pain to come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But this is my work- as a healer, an empath, a teacher, a human being. The shadows teach me to appreciate the light with full force. My darkness teaches me lessons that help me connect to the world around me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve stopped trying to get rid of the shadows. I am starting to have faith that the light will shine through in divine timing. I am willing to do the shadow work in order to learn and grow and share. So I’ve managed to move from my bed to my mat. I am now able to ask myself, “What am I unwilling to feel?” and “Where does it hurt?” I am getting still and quiet and back in my body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you for reading and struggling and breathing with me.
