Lebanese-inspired quinoa and beans! 10/10
I first encountered Lebanese spicing in highschool, and I LOVED it. It blew my mind that spices that are traditionally in sweet foods in North America (allspice, cinnamon, cloves, etc) were used in savory dishes! .
This dish has sauteed onion, garlic, mushrooms, carrots, zucchini and spinach, with quinoa and black beans. It's flavored with beef broth, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, paprika, a touch of Cayenne, cumin, a few chopped dates, salt and pepper. .
Honestly, this was one of my favorite things I've eaten in a while. Christopher and Atticus loved it too! It was warm and savory and filling, but the warm spicy tones somehow made it feel sweet, even though it wasn't? Does that make sense? .
Trying spice combinations from different countries is so fun! Do you guys have any favorites that I should try!? .
