The severe weather this week may have caused some serious damage to your lawn. Here are a few suggestions of what to keep an eye out for while checking for storm ⛈ damage. For more information take a look at our story, and please let us know if you have any questions! .
🌳 Inspect trees.
Look for fallen branches, a split tree trunk or a broken tree tops- as all could pose a safety danger.
🍁 Pick up small twigs, leaves, and debris. .
🌸 Trim leaf-damaged plants.
If the stems of your annuals, perennials or vegetable plants are still intact, then simply remove the damaged leaves. .
🌺 Remove plants with broken stems.
If your plants have damaged leaves and a snapped stem, it’s not going to recover. So, remove and replace.
🌹 Watch for black spots on Photinia, roses, and botrytis on flower stems.
🌧 Take note of areas of standing water/ clogged gutters, wood piles, tarps over boats, etc.
These can quickly become perfect locations for Mosquito Larvae! Mosquitos will thrive with this excess moisture and high humidity, as will most insects. If this becomes a problem, Nutri-Green has the cure!
☀️ With the high humidity, turf and shrub diseases will be encouraged, so be on the lookout for discoloration in turf grasses – especially Tall Fescues, and Zoysia varieties.
☔️ Fix small or large puddles on your lawn.
If small pools often form in certain areas of your yard after storms, you’ve got a water runoff problem. Try planting water-loving shrubs or trees nearby, so they can help soak up the water. .
🌳Help your trees recover.
Small actions, like mulching, proper watering and fertilizing, throughout the year help maintain the health of your trees. Nutri-Green offers tree care year around, to help strengthen them to withstand future storm damage!
